| Solihull's Festival |
Solihull’s annual Festival is now in its ninth year organised by five Rotary Clubs, all within the Solihull area, the Solihull Soroptimists Club and is ably supported by Inner Wheel Clubs, also in Solihull.
All nine Festivals have had the same aim which is to offer the residents something for everyone within a broad base of Arts. These include Art, Craft, Music of all types, Plays, Films, Street Entertainment and Sport Events.
Our one day Competitive Music Competition for entrants of all ages has become a popular event giving children and adults an opportunity to perform to high standards while being adjudicated by well known names within the music industry. This culminates in the evening with a Grand Concert performed by some of the day’s winners and when all the awards are presented. The public are welcome to attend throughout the day as well as the Concert in the evening and many have commented upon the amazingly high standards achieved by the competitors. Since we first started this Festival in 2001 we have raised in excess of £180,000 all of which has been donated to over 210 local charities. This has been possible thanks, not only, to all the Rotarians and Soroptimists who give freely of their time, but also to our many sponsors and supporters who have supported us over the years. New sponsors are always being sought and these vary in size from the small businesses and individuals who donate a few hundred pounds or services “in kind” through to larger organisations sponsoring entire shows which can cost between £2,000 and £4,000 each.
